Advertisement Inviting Applications for PhD Programs at IIT Ropar

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) invites applications from Indian citizens for PhD programs in various disciplines during first semester of academic year 2012-2013. Eligibility criteria and areas of research for each department are given below:

Sciences

• Chemistry
  Eligibility Criteria: First Class (6.5 grade point out of 10) or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry.
  Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements tenable for the current year:
  a) Valid GATE score.
  b) UGC/CSIR NET qualification
  Area of Research: Organic Chemistry, Organometallics, Catalysis, Chemical Kinetics and Reaction Dynamics, Electronic Structure Calculations, Organic polymer synthesis.
• Physics
  Eligibility Criteria: First Class (6.5 grade point out of 10) or 60% marks (55% marks for SC / ST) in M.Sc. Physics/B.Tech. Engineering Physics.
  Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements tenable for the current year:
  a) Valid GATE score.
  b) UGC/CSIR NET qualification.
  Areas of Research: (1) Particle/Nuclear Physics, (2) Quantum Optics and Quantum Information.
• Mathematics
  Eligibility Criteria: First class (6.5 grade point out of 10) or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering Sciences or equivalent Master's Degree.
  Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements tenable for the current year:
  a) Valid GATE score.
  b) NBHM/UGC/CSIR NET qualification.
  Areas of Research: 1. Fluid Dynamics, 2. Mathematical Modeling, 3. Differential Equations, 4. Topology

  Interested applicants should send the application form (application form can be downloaded from the Institute website: www.iitrpr.ac.in/docs/form_A for all branches except SMMEE andwww.iitrpr.ac.in/docs/form_B for SMMEE) ,with a brief description of their research interests to the Institute administration at the following email: drpgsr@iitrpr.ac.in or by post (To, Ph.D. coordinator, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Nangal Road, Rupnagar-140001, Punjab) on or before 30 March 2012. Institute will not be responsible for any kind of postal delay. Applicant should explicitly mention their expression of intent to be considered for the research scholar position as mentioned above.
  
  Note: Applicants seeking admission in PhD programme other than SMMEE department, apply through application form A, whereas applicants seeking admission in PhD programme in SMMEE, apply through application form B provided on the institute website.
